If you're trying to launch a cannabis brand without spending $5,000 on a designer and three weeks waiting for proofs — this is what PackFlow does and why it works. No fluff, no "synergies," no corporate buzzwords. Just the actual workflow, the actual prices, and the things we built on purpose because we'd been burned by every other tool.
This is the one post we'd have liked to read before starting. It walks through every step, every decision point, every number.
The 60-Second Pitch
PackFlow turns a written brand idea ("Strawberry Lemon Cherry — bright, fruity, Airheads-inspired") into:
- A finished front-side bag design with your logo placed
- A finished back-side compliance panel (nutrition facts, state symbols, THC warnings, QR code)
- White and black bag mockups for marketing
- Print-ready PNG files at full resolution
- An option to order professionally-printed mylar bags shipped flat-sealed to your door
Total time: about 8–12 minutes for first-time users. Try it free — no account required to start, no credit card to design.
Why We Built This
The cannabis packaging market in 2026 has two bad options:
- Hire a designer. $1,500–$5,000 for a first round of artwork, 2–4 weeks to revisions, and another $800–$2,000 to set up plates with a printer. Then you're stuck with whatever you got because the cost of iterating is so high.
- Use a generic template tool. Cheap, fast, and your bag looks exactly like the other 40 brands using the same template. Compliance overlays are an afterthought. State-symbol files are out of date. You'll need a separate workflow for printing.
Both options punish the brands that should be winning — small operators with sharp instincts who can't justify the agency cost on a 32-bag test run.
PackFlow is the third option: AI-generated artwork tuned to YOUR prompt, with cannabis compliance built into the pipeline (not bolted on), with print fulfillment handled by us in the same checkout. It's $25 per bag a la carte if you only want one, or $29/month for 3 bag credits if you're iterating.
The 7-Step Design Flow
Here's exactly what happens when you start a design:
Step 1 — Front design generation
You describe what you want in plain language: brand name, product name, vibe, color palette, any references. The AI generates two distinct front designs in about 30–60 seconds. You can:
- Pick one and continue
- Hit "Remix" to generate two more variations of one
- Hit "Edit" to send a follow-up prompt ("make it more graffiti, less neon")
- Reroll completely with a new prompt
The model we use is gpt-image-1 with a custom prompt template that pre-loads cannabis-appropriate visual conventions — so you don't have to write "dispensary aesthetic" or know what mylar artwork should look like.
Step 2 — Backside generation
The AI generates three back-side options: a faded-front pattern with logo watermark, a blurred front, and an abstract thematic continuation. You pick the one that fits your aesthetic, or skip the back entirely if you only want a front-printed bag.
Step 3 — Logo
Three paths:
- AI generate. Type your brand name, pick a style (Streetwear, Luxury, Minimal, Graffiti, Cartoon), and we generate two transparent-PNG logos in ~20 seconds.
- Upload your own. Any PNG/JPG works — we automatically remove the background using a corner-sample BFS algorithm tuned for solid-color logo backgrounds.
- Skip the logo. Some designs don't need one.
Then we generate six placement variations (top badge, corner stamps, bottom center, lower-left, lower-right) and let you pick. Or if none of those work, hit "Move the logo yourself" and drag it anywhere inside the safe zone.
Step 4 — Volume sticker + state badges
This is where compliance starts mattering. Pick your volume label (1g, 3.5g, 7g, 14g, 28g, or skip for non-cannabis use). Pick state symbols where you ship: California, Colorado, Michigan, Massachusetts, Washington, Oregon, etc. We have the current symbol files for every legal-cannabis state, updated when the state regulator updates them.
Same as the logo step, you can either let us auto-place the badges or drag them yourself.
Step 5 — Backside compliance overlays
This is the screen most brands wing on. PackFlow surfaces:
- Nutrition facts panel. Auto-fills from your product info, but you can edit before lock-in.
- Product info / ingredients block. Free-form text area.
- Warning labels. Two style options — the dark-bordered "Warning: Cannabis Product" box and a lighter-weight 21+ notice. Both are sized to current state regs.
- QR code. Goes to your COA, brand site, whatever URL you want. Generated as a real scannable QR with M-level error correction so it survives bag wrinkles.
You pick which overlays to include and where they sit. Each overlay has a position drag-tool if our auto-placement isn't quite right.
Step 6 — Bag mockups
We composite your finished design onto both white and black bag templates simultaneously. You see them side-by-side and pick whichever color you want printed. Both mockups are saved to your account dashboard either way — so you can use them for social/marketing later without re-paying.
Step 7 — Get your bag
Two paths:
Download the files. $25 for everything (logo + front + back + mockups), or buy individual file types from $9 each. Files are watermark-free, full-resolution, and delivered instantly to your account dashboard plus emailed to you.
Order printed bags. 32, 64, or 128 bags, front-only or full front+back. Printed on cannabis-grade matte mylar by us, shipped flat-sealed in 7–10 business days (or add Rush Production at the cart for 3–5 business days). All print orders include the digital file pack for free — you don't pay twice.

Things We Built That You Probably Won't Notice (Until You Need Them)
Most of the work that goes into a packaging tool is invisible when it works. Here's what we sweat over:
Compliance overlays that match the actual state file
Each state regulator publishes the official cannabis-symbol artwork as a downloadable file. Half the design tools online use a redrawn, slightly-wrong version because they didn't want to deal with versioning. We use the actual current files and update them when the states update theirs. Recently added: updated Michigan symbol (October 2025), New York symbol (March 2026).
QR codes that actually scan after printing
QRs are easy to break. We generate at M-level error correction (15% damage tolerance), then composite at high-enough resolution that the printed result survives bag wrinkles, mylar texture, and folding around the seam. Tested on Roland VersaWorks-printed bags — not just on-screen.
Logos with actual transparent backgrounds
The dirty secret of AI logo generation is that most tools return a logo on a transparent-looking checkerboard pattern that's actually painted as gray-and-white pixels. Looks fine on screen, ruins your print. We use gpt-image-1.5 with a strict transparency prompt and run a bbox-trim post-process that crops the canvas to the logo's actual extent — so the placement on your bag uses the real artwork dimensions, not the padded canvas.
Print + cut files that go straight to the press
When you order printed bags, we don't just print — we generate Roland-compatible PDFs with vector cut-line overlays preserved as CutContour spot color paths. The print shop loads the file, drops the right blank in the press, and hits go. No back-and-forth.
Dashboard that survives a server restart
If you save a bag, place an order, then come back three months later: every file is there. We persist everything to Postgres + DigitalOcean Spaces, not just session memory. We learned this lesson the hard way during early testing.
The "Print This" Reorder Button
One that's worth calling out specifically. When a saved bag works for you and you want to reorder, you don't redesign. You go to your account, hit Print This on that bag's card, and you're dropped straight at Step 7 with the original artwork locked in. Pick a different quantity (maybe 32 last time, 128 this time), pick a different shipping speed, hit Add to Cart. Two clicks from "I want more" to "it's ordered."
This was the biggest single UX request from our beta brands and we built it into the order pipeline so the new order links back to the original flow — meaning your dashboard stays clean (one card per design), and we always know which bag color and which artwork to print.
Who PackFlow Is For (and Who It Isn't)
You'll get value from PackFlow if you're:
- Launching a new cannabis brand and need 32–500 bags to test SKUs
- An established brand wanting to iterate quickly on packaging without monthly designer retainers
- A small dispensary doing private-label drops
- An agency or operator managing 5+ brand identities and tired of $2k design rounds for each
You probably won't get value from PackFlow if you're:
- Ordering 10,000+ bags per SKU — at that volume, traditional offset printing beats us on per-bag cost
- Doing 100% custom die-cut shapes — we print on standard mylar bag templates, not custom shapes
- In a non-USA market — we currently only ship printed bags to the continental US (digital file downloads work anywhere)
Start Designing
The fastest way to understand if PackFlow fits your workflow is to design a bag right now. It costs nothing, takes about ten minutes, and you'll see real generated artwork on a real bag mockup before deciding if you want to download or print.
